Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alex Gorden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerhard Franke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alex Gorden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gerhard Franke!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Dean Styles and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gorden shoots in but Franke avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Franke keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Franke gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Franke is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Franke is trying to keep Gorden in close.
Franke wants to sweep but no luck.

Franke looking for a guillotine here but Gorden defends easily.

Franke is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Gorden avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Gorden could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Franke stuffs the takedown.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Franke tries to reverse the position but Gorden maintains control.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gorden manages to capitalize on a mistake by Franke to take his back!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Franke tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alex Gorden dominated that round.
That's time! Gorden's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Gorden tries for a takedown but Franke sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Gorden wants to clinch up but Franke keeps it at a distance.
Franke missing with a left hand there. Gorden was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Franke digs a good hook to Gorden's body.
Franke bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Gorden's head.


It looks like Alex Gorden has been cut.
Franke thumps Gorden with a low kick.
Horrible takedown by Gorden or perhaps it was just good defense by Franke which made him look bad.
Franke throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Franke tries to bum rush Gorden with a series of wild strikes but Gorden uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Alex Gorden is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Gorden misses with a takedown attempt - Franke sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Franke gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A short body shot lands from Franke as the two fighters clinch.

Franke breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Franke throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Franke scores with a hook to the body. Gorden takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Franke connects with a single shot there.
Gorden gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Franke.
Franke swings for the body but Gorden moves out of range.
Gorden doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gorden shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Franke pinned against the cage. Franke gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Franke fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gorden manages to avoid it.
Franke misses with a wild body shot.

Franke darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Franke is trying to work for a kimura but Gorden is defending well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Franke is pressing down on Gorden's thigh, looking to free his foot. Gorden is holding on for now.
Franke throws a strike but Gorden avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Gorden keeping moving, preventing Franke from controlling successfully.
Franke controls from within his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gerhard Franke showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Alex Gorden's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Franke shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Gorden keeping moving, preventing Franke from controlling successfully.

Franke postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gorden is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Franke, into his guard.
Franke manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gorden manages to get himself to full guard.

Franke is looking to advance position but Gorden has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Franke can't escape the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Franke tries to lock up and control but Gorden gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Gorden prevents Franke from getting the reversal.

Franke regains half guard.
Franke slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Franke wants to sweep here but Gorden controlling him for the moment.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Franke trying to keep a closed guard but Gorden is proving a slippery customer.
Franke is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Gerhard Franke comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Franke has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
