The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jarvis tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Matthews manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Matthews, as that shot connected.
Nice body punch from Matthews.
Matthews lands with an overhand left.
Matthews scores with a one two! Jarvis had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Jarvis could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Matthews lands the left hand.

It looks like Oswaldo Jarvis has been cut.
Jarvis doesn't manage to clinch there - Matthews circles away.
Matthews takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Matthews misses with a jab, cross combination.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Matthews counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jarvis won't be happy with that.
Matthews lands some shots froms side control.
Matthews scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Jarvis to see if he's OK.
Jarvis tries to improve position but can't.
Matthews scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Jarvis is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Matthews can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

Thaddeus Matthews decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
