The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marida stuffs the takedown attempt from Marinho. Marinho gets slowly back to his feet.
Marida closes the distance and clinches.
Marida lands a takedown into guard.
Marinho looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Marida postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Marida scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Marinho is trying to control the position but Marida postures up.

Marinho is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

You get the feeling that Marida really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Marida bucks up and throws Marinho to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
Alex Marida seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Marida has closed the distance and engaged Marinho in a clinch.
Marida has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Marinho regains guard immediately.

Marida wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Marinho manages to pass to side control.

Marinho is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Marida scores with a couple of nice shots.
Marida takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Marida really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Marinho. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Marida is nestled in close to Marinho, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Marida dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Marinho has had enough and taps out.
