Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jared Meyer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Romilson Tomaz!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Seu Braga and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tomaz moves in looking to clinch but Meyer pushes him off.

Tomaz has managed to clinch.

Meyer could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Tomaz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Tomaz fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Meyer to the ground. Tomaz is now in Meyer's guard.

Meyer has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Tomaz has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tomaz closes the distance and clinches.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Meyer in particular looking to stall.
Tomaz is trying to maintain the position but Meyer is very close to passing his half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tomaz can do anything to dispel that myth.

Meyer tries for a takedown but Tomaz sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Tomaz dives in and grabs Meyer's left leg, looking for a takedown. Meyer pushes down on Tomaz's head and hops out.

Meyer is taking a breather. Tomaz says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Tomaz misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Meyer perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Meyer keeps the fight on the outside.
Meyer closes this distance looking for a takedown but Tomaz circles away.

A close second round but Romilson Tomaz will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Meyer has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Tomaz is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Meyer has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Tomaz avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jared Meyer overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Meyer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
