Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jimbo Covert!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Augusto Pinochet!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Colin Fotheringham and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pinochet tries to clinch but Covert moves away
and Covert counters with a lovely straight right hand!


It looks like Augusto Pinochet has been cut.
Covert swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Pinochet.
Covert connects with an inside leg kick.

Pinochet clinches up with Covert and pushes him back against the cage.
Pinochet tries to pull guard but Covert forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Pinochet blocking some punches.
Pinochet jumps guard but Covert turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Covert breaks the clinch.
We've been told by Covert's head coaches at the smoker that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Pinochet clinches up with Covert and pushes him back against the cage.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Pinochet prevents a body shot from Covert.
Pinochet is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Covert to keep the fight standing.
Jimbo Covert has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Augusto Pinochet.

Good anti-grappling being displayed by Pinochet as Covert tries to tie him up.
Pinochet jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Covert walks away with a smile on his face. Pinochet gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Pinochet clinches up against the cage.
Covert tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Pinochet avoiding damage as Covert throws knees to the body.
Pinochet takes a shot to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Covert working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.

Covert tries to throw a body punch but Pinochet avoids it by throwing Covert back against the cage.
Covert scores with a shot to the side of Pinochet's head.
Pinochet tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Pinochet drags the fight down to the ground.

Pinochet working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Covert doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Covert manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Covert trying to control the position from guard on top but Pinochet is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pinochet looking for a sweep. Not yet Pinochet, not yet.
Pinochet is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Pinochet wants to sweep here but Covert controlling him for the moment.
Pinochet trying to keep a closed guard but Covert is proving a slippery customer.

Pinochet working for a triangle but Covert defends it easily.

Pinochet has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Covert can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Pinochet looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Pinochet is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Covert rolls with it to try and escape but Pinochet cranks on the arm and Covert is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
