The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gelfen attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
We've been told by Khaan's head coaches at Roosters Coop that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Gelfen throws a hook but Khaan avoids it easily.
Khaan tried to counter with a leg kick but Gelfen avoided it.
Gelfen throws a body punch but Khaan moves out of range.
Gelfen misses with a wild combination.

and Khaan counters with a right hand to the body.
Khaan is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

and Khaan counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Gelfen looks to land a right hand but Khaan moved out of range.
The fighters circle momentarily. Gelfen darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

It looks like Darius Khaan has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gelfen loads up on a big right hand but Khaan slips the punch.
It looked like Khaan was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Gelfen.

Gelfen will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Khaan is looking to counter with a body kick.
Gelfen stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Khaan.
Gelfen misses with a left hand
and Khaan counters with a nice body shot.
Nice uppercut there from Gelfen.
Gelfen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Gelfen unleashes a big counter combination but Khaan bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Gelfen throws a jab but it's blocked by Khaan.
Khaan appears to be looking for a big counter.
Gelfen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Khaan throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Khaan steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Gelfen.
Gelfen lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Khaan circles away quickly and effectively.

Khaan has closed the distance and engaged Gelfen in a clinch.

Khaan tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Gelfen avoids it.

Gelfen tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Khaan's elbow.
Khaan lands a good knee to the midsection. Gelfen won't want to take too many of those.
Khaan is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Gelfen is defending well for now.

After the fight, Eddie Gelfen was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
