The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hastings takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Hastings takes a swing at Mondariz's ribcage but misses.
Mondariz tries to land a front kick but Hastings steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Hastings looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Hastings controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Mondariz wants to stand up but Hastings is controlling him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hastings has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Mondariz has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
A bit of a pause in the action here. Hastings controlling the positon.

Hastings is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Hastings throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
We've been informed that Mondariz has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Mondariz slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.


It looks like Hunter Hastings has been cut.
Hastings on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Hastings gets a double leg takedown into Mondariz's guard.

Mondariz is looking to stand up but Hastings isn't so interested in that idea.
Hastings is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Hastings gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Mondariz falls off balance throwing a combination
and Hastings counters with a body kick.

Hastings shoots in and bounces Mondariz off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hastings trying to move into half guard but instead Mondariz has managed to sweep!

Mondariz wanted to stand there but Hastings had control of the position.
Hastings is controlling Mondariz's posture.
Hastings wants to stand up but Mondariz is controlling him.

Hastings is adopting a defensive guard.
Mondariz wants to get up but he can't break Hastings's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Hastings manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Hastings keeps control of Mondariz as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Mondariz misses with some punches.

Mondariz wants to break the clinch but can't.
Mondariz is trying to push Hastings away but Hastings has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Hastings.
Hastings is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mondariz can do to turn this around?
Mondariz wants to get back to striking at distance but Hastings won't allow it.

Hastings escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Hastings shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hastings showed some decent athleticism there.

Hastings uses his free foot to push down on Mondariz's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Mondariz.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mondariz tries to buck Hastings off but he can't manage it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hastings throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Mondariz crumples to the floor and the fight is over!
