PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rei Spears (ranked 2705 p4p, 70 weight class) and Gustav Rinaldi (ranked 24050 p4p, 152 weight class). Spears comes to the cage accompanied by YFN Lucci - Dream. Gustav Rinaldi told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rei Spears!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gustav Rinaldi!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Spears clinches with his opponent.
Spears is defending well against a takedown attempt.
We've been informed that Rinaldi has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Spears with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Rinaldi is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Spears is defending well.
Rinaldi wants a takedown.
Rei Spears has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gustav Rinaldi.
Rinaldi changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Spears fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Rinaldi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
enabling Spears to counter with a crisp jab.
Rinaldi has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Spears finds it's way round the side to connect with Rinaldi's head.

Spears moves into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rinaldi has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Spears avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Rinaldi takes a knee right on the jaw!

Spears breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Rinaldi gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Spears gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
