The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strong shoots in for a takedown but McDibbles shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

McDibbles fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Strong sprawls well initially but McDibbles persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
McDibbles looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Strong really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Strong wants to improve his position but McDibbles is controlling well.
Strong trying to control but McDibbles postures up.

Strong looking for submissions off his back.
McDibbles content to control rather than advance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Strong trying to control from the bottom.

McDibbles is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

McDibbles is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
McDibbles is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

McDibbles is working for a guillotine from mount but Strong frees his head quite easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McDibbles is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Strong is surviving well by controlling McDibbles's body position as best he can.
Strong is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
BOOM! McDibbles connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Strong is rocked!

It looks like Hayden Strong has been cut.
McDibbles punching from mount but Strong doing a good job of avoiding damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McDibbles is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Strong to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Strong shrugs it off.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Strong can't escape the position.
McDibbles thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Strong is wriggling around trying to escape.
Strong tries to lock up and control but McDibbles gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
McDibbles throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Strong because McDibbles loaded up on that one.
McDibbles sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Strong sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Strong moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McDibbles avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Strong is breathing heavily.

Strong is refusing to be controlled, as McDibbles sits in half guard.

The referee asks McDibbles politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. McDibbles prefers to stall for the moment though.

Strong is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked McDibbles off and has taken his back!

McDibbles might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Strong haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
