Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gregor Narkun (ranked 8581 p4p, 751 weight class) and Stephone Currey (ranked 8380 p4p, 747 weight class). Currey comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Fuck Bron Bron kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gregor Narkun!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Stephone Currey!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Illya Tyunina and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Currey lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Narkun shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Currey counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Narkun takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Currey throws a shot to the body.
Currey moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Narkun throws a sloppy head kick and Currey moves out of range easily.
Currey throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Currey throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Narkun's waist but Narkun gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Currey off to one side.
Currey scores with a jab.
Currey lands with a hook. Narkun tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Currey lands with an uppercut that bounces Narkun off the cage and back into range.
Currey lands the left hand.
Narkun shoots for a takedown but Currey saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Currey dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Currey swinging wildly here.
Narkun drops down looking for a counter takedown but Currey sprawls and moves away.
Currey misses with a double jab

and Narkun counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Currey tries to roll over but Narkun keeps him under control.
Currey is looking to control Narkun's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Currey avoid being mounted?
Narkun takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Currey tries to get to full guard but Narkun has control of the leg.
Narkun slows the pace down in half guard.
Currey is trying to stand up here but Narkun is controlling him well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Narkun throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Currey throws a nice head kick!
Currey getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Currey throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Currey moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

and Narkun counters with a single leg into guard. Currey didn't expect that.
Currey can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Narkun controls the pace.
Currey looks winded!
Narkun won't allow Currey to get back to his feet.

Narkun in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Narkun postures up.
Narkun slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Narkun trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Narkun working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Narkun drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Narkun jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Narkun advances position into side control!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Narkun slows the pace down.
Narkun fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Narkun stands up and beckons Currey to his feet.
Narkun tries for a takedown but Currey sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gregor Narkun. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Narkun closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Currey's guard.

Narkun stands and steps away. Currey gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Currey fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Narkun has a takedown stuffed.

Narkun gets a double leg takedown into Currey's guard.

Currey feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Narkun's calf.

Currey throws a big shot that misses.

Narkun lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Narkun shoots in for a takedown but Currey shows good takedown defense.
Currey fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Narkun manages to avoid it.
Currey moves away from the strike by Narkun.
Narkun shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Currey defends it nicely.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Narkun accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Narkun decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

A close second round but Stephone Currey will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Currey ducks under a wild hook from Narkun.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Currey! But no joy.
Currey stuns Narkun with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Narkun clinches.
Narkun is trying to pull guard but Currey has him pressed against the cage.
Currey goes for a takedown attempt but Narkun pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Left hook, right uppercut from Currey.
Narkun blocks a jab.
Currey throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Currey tries to keep at a distance but Narkun has taken the fight into the clinch.
Currey has a couple of punches blocked by Narkun.
Currey lands a knee to the body.
Currey is trying to break the clinch but Narkun is controlling him.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Narkun lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Currey takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Narkun with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Narkun prevents Currey from improving his position.
Currey is trying to stand back up but Narkun is controlling him

Narkun stays in close to Currey's body and controls the position.
Narkun is pushing down on Currey's leg trying to pass to half guard. Currey is fighting to maintain full guard but Narkun has managed to sneak the leg through.

Narkun working over Currey with some ground and pound. Currey looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Narkun looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Narkun is looking for a kimura but Currey is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Narkun to get the leverage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Gregor Narkun showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Currey has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
