Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Greg Hunt (ranked 6781 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rod Marchand (ranked 22397 p4p, 0 weight class). Marchand comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Daisy kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! This should be a great matchup!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marchand shoots in and gets a takedown into Hunt's guard.
Marchand connects with a couple of short punches.
Marchand pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hunt is keeping the position for now.
Marchand is looking to work some ground and pound but Hunt has wrist control.
Marchand wants to control from the top but Hunt keeps moving.
Marchand has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Marchand postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hunt is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Marchand is controlling him.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Marchand is working Hunt over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Still in half guard, Marchand seems content to control.

Hunt tries to roll over but Marchand keeps him under control.

We've been informed that Marchand has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Marchand is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hunt defends it well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hunt is defending against the submission attempts here by Marchand.
Hunt wants to improve his position but Marchand is controlling well.
Marchand looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hunt with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Hunt wants to control but Marchand is keeping busy.
Hunt moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Marchand thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Marchand stands and throws Hunt's legs to the side, diving into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rod Marchand dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Hunt feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Marchand working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hunt doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hunt manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Marchand had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hunt defends it easily.
Hunt would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Hunt stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Marchand swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Marchand has his foot on Hunt's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hunt works his way back into a safe position though.
Marchand controls Hunt momentarily but Hunt frees himself.

Marchand has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hunt can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Marchand has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Hunt should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Marchand has tightened it up now! Hunt should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
