The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thurston tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Miller swivels and escapes.
Miller thuds his right hand into Thurston's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Thurston throws a head kick but Miller moves out of range.
Miller fails to land with a series of punches.
Miller connects with a right hand. Thurston shakes it off.
Thurston shoots in but no luck this time.
Miller misses with a jab, cross combination.
Miller throws a shot to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Miller lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Thurston is breathing heavily.
Thurston ducks straight into an uppercut from Miller and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Thurston maanges to regain guard straight away.
Miller scoring with punches to the head and body.
Thurston looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Miller puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Thurston tries to roll over but Miller keeps him under control.
Miller is controlling the pace.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Thurston pushes Miller off but Miller dives into side control.

Miller thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Thurston is looking to regain half guard here but Miller keeps moving and retains side control.
Thurston is not content to let Miller control the position.
Thurston is looking to reverse the position.
Miller wants to control but Thurston is keeping him busy.

Despite being in the dominant position, Matt Miller just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Thurston doesn't manage to clinch there - Miller circles away.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Miller avoids the head kick by Thurston.
Thurston throws a sloppy head kick and Miller moves out of range easily.
Miller throws a right and a left that Thurston avoids nicely.
Thurston misses with a takedown attempt - Miller sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thirsty Thurston. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Miller tests Thurston's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Miller drops Thurston with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Thurston looks back up at him and smiles so Miller waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Thurston is rocked!
Miller closes the distance and lands a brutal uppercut that knocks Thurston out! We're looking at the replay now - he was out before he hit the floor!
