The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Speed is looking to clinch.
Marshall Jr shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Speed pinned against the cage. Speed gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Speed tries to clinch but Marshall Jr moves out of range.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Marshall Jr accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Marshall Jr feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Speed is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Marshall Jr is controlling him well.

Marshall Jr is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Speed is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The referee asks Marshall Jr politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Marshall Jr prefers to stall for the moment though.
Speed is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Marshall Jr has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Speed pushes Marshall Jr away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Marshall Jr gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Marshall Jr wants to control for a moment but Speed uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Marshall Jr is looking to improve his position.

Marshall Jr is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Speed's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Speed's back!
