The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Rodriguez takes the fight into the clinch.

Rodriguez rushes Bowman and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Rodriguez gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Bowman is trying to push Rodriguez away but Rodriguez has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Rodriguez misses with a shot to the kidneys.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bowman is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Rodriguez pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Bowman could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Bowman drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Bowman jumps guard and drags Rodriguez to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Bowman might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Bowman escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rodriguez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Rodriguez wants to control from the top but Bowman keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rodriguez stands and steps away. Bowman gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Fernando Rodriguez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rodriguez feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Bowman sprawling to the canvas! Bowman rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Rodriguez finish him?!
