Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between frank Duncombe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rod Moreschi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, frank Duncombe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rod Moreschi!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Duncombe as Moreschi shoots in.
Moreschi steps into range and cracks Duncombe with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Duncombe flops backwards and Moreschi dives into his guard looking to finish!
Moreschi has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Duncombe is proving hard to escape from.
Duncombe trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Duncombe controls Moreschi momentarily but Moreschi frees himself.
Moreschi wants to control from the top but Duncombe keeps moving.
Duncombe looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Duncombe knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Moreschi on the ground.
Duncombe working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Moreschi.
Duncombe wants to stand and escape but Moreschi is having none of it.
Duncombe thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Duncombe closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Moreschi tries to bench press Duncombe off him but Duncombe keeps the position.
Duncombe could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Moreschi is trying to control Duncombe's posture but Duncombe avoids it.

Moreschi sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Duncombe seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Moreschi gets full guard.
Duncombe throwing strikes from guard but Moreschi blocks nicely.
Moreschi utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Moreschi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Duncombe stands and steps away. Moreschi gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Duncombe shoots in for a takedown but Moreschi shows good takedown defense.

and Duncombe counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Duncombe is breathing heavily.
Moreschi controls Duncombe momentarily but Duncombe frees himself.
Duncombe wants to get up but he can't break Moreschi's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Moreschi is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Duncombe controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Moreschi lands with a heel strike from the guard.
Moreschi has a closed guard, preventing Duncombe from standing up.

Moreschi tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Moreschi is trying to control the position but Duncombe postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Duncombe changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Moreschi looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Duncombe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Moreschi keeps working.
Moreschi manages to get back to half guard.

Duncombe postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Moreschi to stand up.

Moreschi stuffs the takedown attempt from Duncombe. Duncombe gets slowly back to his feet.
Moreschi tries to clinch up.
Moreschi misses with a takedown attempt - Duncombe sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
frank Duncombe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rod Moreschi.
No joy there for Moreschi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Duncombe looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Moreschi kicks off Duncombe and gets to his feet.
Moreschi closes the distance looking to clinch

and Duncombe counters with a single leg into guard. Moreschi didn't expect that.
Moreschi avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Moreschi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Duncombe tries to free his leg and advance position but Moreschi is retaining full guard.
Duncombe distracts Moreschi with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Duncombe lands a couple of digs.
frank Duncombe overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Moreschi throws a jab but it's blocked by Duncombe.

so Duncombe counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Moreschi doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Duncombe passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Duncombe moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Moreschi is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Duncombe has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Duncombe connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Moreschi some visible discomfort.

Duncombe stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Moreschi bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Duncombe is looking to stand back up but Moreschi counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Duncombe.

Moreschi seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Duncombe does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Duncombe is looking to control Moreschi's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Duncombe avoid being mounted?
Moreschi throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Duncombe flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Duncombe closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Moreschi to the mat! Moreschi manages to get full guard.

Duncombe shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Duncombe was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Duncombe lands a big shot there that rocks Moreschi but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Duncombe jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Moreschi manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Moreschi manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Moreschi is trying to control but can't.
Moreschi is not content to let Duncombe control the position.
Moreschi looks like he's trying to stand up.
Duncombe tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Moreschi.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Duncombe is thwarting Moreschi's attempts to control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Duncombe has taken the fight to the clinch.

Duncombe lands an uppercut.
Moreschi tries to break the clinch but Duncombe is controlling the position.
Moreschi is trying to drag Duncombe to the mat but Duncombe just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Duncombe pulls guard.
Duncombe is looking to sweep but instead, Moreschi has passed into half guard.
Duncombe looks like he's trying to stand up.

Duncombe is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Moreschi pulls his head out easily.

Moreschi is looking for a kimura but Duncombe is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Moreschi to get the leverage.
Duncombe wants to get back to his feet.
Duncombe flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Duncombe on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Duncombe tries to get out of the position.
Moreschi is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Moreschi wants to stand up but Duncombe has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Duncombe wants to improve his position but Moreschi is controlling well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Moreschi tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Duncombe counters with a takedown into side control.
Moreschi is looking to regain half guard here but Duncombe keeps moving and retains side control.

Duncombe stands up and beckons Moreschi to his feet.
Duncombe has a takedown stuffed.
Moreschi lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Horrible takedown by Duncombe or perhaps it was just good defense by Moreschi which made him look bad.
Moreschi avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Moreschi moves into the clinch.
Moreschi goes for a takedown attempt but Duncombe pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Duncombe shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Moreschi pinned against the cage. Moreschi gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for frank Duncombe. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Duncombe's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Duncombe looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Duncombe, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
