Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wilson Kirk (ranked 25243 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Hunter (ranked 5946 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnny Hunter will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunter tries to clinch up.
Kirk is looking to counter punch.
Kirk really is a fat lump.

Hunter closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Hunter content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Hunter works to advance to full mount. Kirk defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Hunter throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Kirk because Hunter loaded up on that one.
Kirk tries to hold on but Hunter postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kirk is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Hunter can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kirk is looking to escape.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hunter lands a couple of good shots and Kirk has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Hunter swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Kirk is now in Hunter's guard. A big mistake from Hunter there, giving up the dominant position!

Kirk forces Hunter back against the cage and clinches.

Hunter utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Kirk throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hunter works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kirk stands up over Hunter, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Kirk is looking for a kimura but Hunter is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kirk to get the leverage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Kirk wants to work for an arm triangle but Hunter is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Kirk is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Hunter trying to hold on to Kirk's head to control him but Kirk postures up.
Kirk wants to stand but Hunter has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Kirk bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Hunter looking for a sweep but Kirk has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Kirk has hold of Hunter's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Hunter manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Hunter is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Hunter tries to hold on but Kirk postures up.

Hunter manages to regain half guard. Good work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Hunter throws a left and a right that both miss

and Kirk counters with a takedown into side control.

Kirk is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hunter is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Kirk has control of an arm but Hunter manages to advance to Kirk's back!
Hunter is controlling the position but Kirk somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.
Hunter is keen to just control but Kirk is a slippery customer.

Hunter is looking for a kimura here.

Kirk is doing well to control the position and prevent Hunter from advancing to side control.
Kirk regains full guard. Nicely done.

Kirk has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Hunter is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Kirk.
Hunter creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Kirk sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Kirk sneaks back into half guard.
Hunter wants to take a breather but Kirk is having none of it.
Hunter might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kirk haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Hunter is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Hunter is just content to waste time from the top position. Kirk takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Hunter takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Kirk keeping moving, preventing Hunter from controlling successfully.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Kirk manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Hunter lands a takedown into guard.
Kirk wants to sweep but no luck.
Kirk is looking to stand up but Hunter isn't so interested in that idea.
Hunter trying to control but Kirk is working from the bottom.

Hunter looking to sit in guard and control but Kirk gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Hunter is looking for a triangle but Kirk pushes his legs off easily.
Kirk wants to stand but Hunter is controlling his posture from full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kirk decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hunter, up you get!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Wilson Kirk.
Well Kirk has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
