PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joe Jojo (ranked 7402 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Velasquez (ranked 4465 p4p, 0 weight class). Jojo comes into the arena with whatever blaring out of the sound system. Diego Velasquez will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Diego Velasquez !
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Peter Branson and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jojo sizes up Velasquez with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Velasquez drives through and clinches with Jojo against the cage.

Velasquez wants the takedown. Jojo is fighting it off but Velasquez persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Jojo's guard against the cage.
Velasquez is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Let's hope that Velasquez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Velasquez gets to his feet - Jojo follows without any prompting.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Velasquez shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Velasquez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jojo is just riding it out for now. Velasquez eventually gives up the hold.

Velasquez looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Jojo on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Velasquez is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Jojo is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
