PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dennis Boyd (ranked 23830 p4p, 0 weight class) and Saku Takashi (ranked 4438 p4p, 0 weight class). Saku Takashi told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dennis Boyd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Saku Takashi!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Sosuke Kotani and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Boyd gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Takashi not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Takashi makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Takashi cracks Boyd with a solid left hand.
Takashi is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Boyd trying to keep a closed guard but Takashi is proving a slippery customer.
Boyd wants to get back to his feet but Takashi is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Takashi closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Boyd's guard.

Boyd might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Boyd wants to control but Takashi is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Saku Takashi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Takashi manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Boyd on his heels. He'll look to pass Boyd's guard now, I'm sure.

Takashi has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Takashi.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Saku Takashi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Takashi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
