The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gauzeme wants to clinch up but Sicila keeps it at a distance.
Sicila went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Gauzeme closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

We've been hearing good reports from Sicila's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Sicila fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sicila throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Gauzeme counters with a nice double leg into side control. Sicila won't be happy with that.
Sicila is breathing heavily.
Sicila tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gauzeme wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gauzeme manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Sicila on his heels. He'll look to pass Sicila's guard now, I'm sure.

Gauzeme misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Sicila tries to keep at a distance but Gauzeme has taken the fight into the clinch.
Gauzeme is trying to break the clinch but Sicila has him pressed against the cage.
Sicila tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Gauzeme avoids it.
Sicila can't break the clinch.

Gauzeme gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Sicila regains guard.
Gauzeme slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Gauzeme gets to his feet. Sicila looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Gauzeme misses with a low kick as Sicila jumps back.

Gauzeme closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Sicila's guard.
Gauzeme lands a couple of digs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gauzeme looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Gauzeme is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Sicila!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Sicila is bucking up trying to escape but Gauzeme cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Sicila knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gauzeme on the ground.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sicila enables Gauzeme to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sicila manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Gauzeme stands and steps away. Sicila gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Gauzeme doesn't manage to clinch there - Sicila circles away.

Gauzeme shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Gauzeme was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Gauzeme is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sicila has escaped the position, nice work there.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gauzeme decides to stand back up. Gauzeme steps back and let's Sicila get back to his feet.

Gauzeme clinches up with Sicila and pushes him back against the cage.
Gauzeme on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Gauzeme blocks an elbow strike.

Gauzeme has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Sicila clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Gauzeme just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sicila is keeping busy.
Sicila is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Gauzeme has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Gauzeme's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Gauzeme is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Sicila has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Gauzeme has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Sicila taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Gauzeme doesn't care though - he's delighted!
