PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Adrian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hop Sing (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Andrew Adrian!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hop Sing!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adrian has a takedown stuffed.

Adrian drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Sing seems keen to control Adrian's posture.

Sing is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Sing has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Adrian can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Adrian has gone for a leg lock! Sing slips out almost immediately though and dives into Adrian's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sing is thwarting Adrian's attempts to control the position.
Sing is controlling the pace.

Adrian kicks Sing off and gets back to his feet.
Adrian is breathing heavily.

Adrian drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Sing sneaks back into half guard.
Sing tries to get to full guard but Adrian has control of the leg.

Adrian not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Adrian seems to be looking for submissions.
Sing wants to get back to his feet.

That was a close round but I would say that Andrew Adrian will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Adrian darts in and clinches Sing up against the cage.
Adrian tries to pull guard but Sing holds him up against the cage and eventually Adrian drops back down to his feet.

Adrian escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Adrian looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sing is fending him off so far but Adrian persists. Nope, Sing circles away and we're back to standing.
Adrian fails with an attempt to clinch.

Adrian closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Adrian tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Sing can't do much from the bottom here.
Adrian misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Adrian really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Sing gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sing manages to get to full guard.

Adrian trying to control the position from guard on top but Sing is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sing controls Adrian momentarily but Adrian frees himself.
Adrian works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Adrian wants to stand but Sing has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Sing working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Adrian doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Adrian manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Adrian has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Sing tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Sing wants to stand and escape but Adrian is having none of it.

Adrian is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
You get the feeling that Adrian really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Adrian sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Adrian wants to get back to full guard.

Sing passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Adrian!
Adrian is squirming around, avoiding Sing's attempts to control the action.
Sing looking to control and managing it successfully.
Adrian tries to hold on but Sing pushes him away.
Sing lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Sing trying to control but Adrian is having none of it.
Adrian knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sing on the ground.
Sing cracks Adrian with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hop Sing showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Sing fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sing falls off balance throwing a combination

and Adrian counters with a shoot takedown. Sing fights it but they end up in guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Adrian bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Sing is looking for a sweep.
Andrew Adrian overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Sing is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Adrian off and has taken his back!

Sing is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Adrian is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Sing working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Adrian is doing well to defend. Sing seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Adrian is forced to tap and this one is over!
