Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Blaine Hurst!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fip Felipe!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Paulo Santos and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hurst shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Felipe sprawls well. Felipe wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hurst gets slowly back to his feet.

Felipe instigates a clinch.
Felipe fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Felipe pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Felipe misses with a head kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Felipe misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hurst wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Felipe tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hurst defends well and Felipe ends up having to push Hurst into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Felipe shoots in and drives through. Hurst sprawls well.
Blaine Hurst has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fip Felipe.

Felipe clinches up with Hurst and pushes him back against the cage.

Felipe looking to throw knees to the head but Hurst is blocking nicely.

Felipe has clasped his hands together around Hurst's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Hurst is trying to get back to his feet.
Hurst gets back to half guard.

Felipe is working for a kimura here but Hurst manages to reverse the position and he's now in Felipe's guard.
Hurst is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Hurst is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Hurst postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Felipe throws his legs up looking for a submission but Hurst uses it to pass to side control.

Hurst looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
An elbow from Hurst crashes against the mat.
Felipe struggling a bit here.
Hurst is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Felipe's shoulder. That is not cool.

Hurst lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Felipe down.
Felipe is looking for a sweep.

Hurst is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Felipe is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Hurst lands a nice forearm strike.

Hurst working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Hurst connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Felipe some visible discomfort.

Hurst tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hurst has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Felipe is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Felipe can't do much from the bottom here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hurst working the body and head with strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Blaine Hurst dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Hurst clinches up with Felipe and pushes him back against the cage.
Hurst tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Felipe smiles and moves away.
Felipe fails with a takedown attempt.
Hurst showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Felipe.

Felipe has managed to clinch.
Hurst jumps guard but Felipe turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Felipe's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Hurst moves into the clinch successfully.

Felipe escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hurst throws a right and a left that Felipe avoids nicely.

Felipe closes the distance and pushes Hurst back into the cage.
Felipe throws an elbow but it misses.
Felipe is trying to break the clinch but Hurst is controlling him.
Felipe wants to take the fight to the mat but Hurst manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Felipe is trying to drag Hurst to the mat but Hurst just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Blaine Hurst has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fip Felipe.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Felipe working hard to break the clinch.

Hurst pulls guard successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hurst is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Hurst seems to be looking for submissions.
Felipe is trying to get back to full guard.
Felipe is breathing heavily.
Hurst working the head and body with strikes.

Hurst is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Felipe is just riding it out for now. Hurst eventually gives up the hold.

Felipe wants to control but Hurst is keeping busy.
Blaine Hurst overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Felipe is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Hurst is staying active.
Hurst perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Felipe is defending against the submission attempts here by Hurst.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Felipe looks like he's trying to stand up.

Hurst seems to be looking for submissions.
Felipe is looking for a sweep. Hurst is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Hurst is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Felipe can do to turn this around?
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Felipe is looking to clinch but Hurst is avoiding it.

Hurst jumps guard and drags Felipe to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Hurst is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Felipe defends well.

Hurst is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Hurst looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Felipe throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Felipe won't allow Hurst to sweep him here.
Hurst is adopting a defensive guard.
Felipe wants to stand but Hurst has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Hurst will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Felipe wants to control from the top but Hurst keeps moving.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Felipe takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hurst keeping full guard, as Felipe tries to pass.
Felipe trying to stand up but can't free himself from Hurst's guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Felipe fails with a takedown attempt.

Hurst tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Hurst tries to pull guard but Felipe won't allow it.

Felipe lands a takedown into guard.

Hurst kicks Felipe off and gets to his feet.
Hurst tries to clinch there but Felipe circles away.
Sloppy strikes from Hurst. Those never looked like landing.
Felipe steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Hurst.

Hurst throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Felipe was covering up waiting for the punch and Hurst finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Felipe not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Felipe wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Hurst not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Felipe is trying to hold Hurst in close to prevent damage but Hurst has managed to pass into half guard.
Fip Felipe has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Blaine Hurst is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hurst, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
