Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Billy Hardy (ranked 8530 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Doyle (ranked 6371 p4p, 0 weight class). Hardy is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Billy Hardy has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hardy is breathing heavily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Doyle wants to work for an arm triangle but Hardy is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Doyle takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Doyle is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Hardy!

Doyle is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Hardy is surviving well by controlling Doyle's body position as best he can.
Doyle wants to stand but Hardy is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.

Doyle has control of Hardy's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Hardy regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Doyle tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Doyle takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

It looks like Doyle might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The referee warns Hardy that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Hardy takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Doyle's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
