PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Stanford Mccoy (ranked 8084 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wuang Liu Chen (ranked 7992 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Stanford Mccoy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wuang Liu Chen!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Francis DeMontford and Darius Henderson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mccoy misses with a takedown attempt - Chen sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Chen throws a counter combo.
Chen will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mccoy stuffs the takedown.
Mccoy doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Chen counters with a thumping low kick.
Mccoy displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Chen.
Stanford Mccoy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wuang Liu Chen.
Mccoy tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chen tries to clinch there but Mccoy circles away.

Chen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mccoy paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Mccoy closes the distance and pushes Chen back into the cage.
Mccoy tries to pull guard but Chen holds him up against the cage and eventually Mccoy drops back down to his feet.

Mccoy lands an elbow inside.
Chen is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Chen is trying to drag Mccoy to the mat but Mccoy just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Mccoy is trying to break the clinch but Chen has him pressed against the cage.
Mccoy is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Chen jumps guard but Mccoy turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Mccoy is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Chen gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Mccoy will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Chen up against the cage.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Mccoy for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Stanford Mccoy.
Chen misses with a few strikes there.
Chen stuffs the takedown.
Chen changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Chen fails with the takedown
and Mccoy counters with a head kick. That will keep Chen thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Mccoy leaves Chen with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Mccoy pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Chen is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
The fight stays on the outside here - Chen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Mccoy clinches with his opponent.
Chen jumps guard but Mccoy stands there with Chen around his waist. Chen gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Mccoy takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Come on Mccoy - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Mccoy has clasped his hands together around Chen's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Nice takedown defense from Mccoy. No joy for Chen on that attempt.
Mccoy avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Chen moves to clinch but Mccoy breaks away
and Mccoy counters with a head kick.
Chen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mccoy's waist but Mccoy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Chen off to one side.

Chen tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Mccoy defends well and Chen ends up having to push Mccoy into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Stanford Mccoy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wuang Liu Chen.

Mccoy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Mccoy seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Chen does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Chen tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Mccoy is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Chen can do to turn this around?
Chen sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Chen wants to get back to his feet.

Mccoy decides to return to a standing position.

and Mccoy counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Chen is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Mccoy shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Mccoy was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Chen is looking to get back to his feet here but Mccoy is keeping cool and he's managed to take Chen's back.
Chen is breathing heavily.
Mccoy lands punches and elbows.
Mccoy is hanging on to Chen's back as he tries to escape.

Mccoy is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Chen has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mccoy keeps control of the position as Chen tries to break free.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Chen wants to clinch but Mccoy slips to the side
and Mccoy counters with a straight right hand.
Chen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mccoy pinned against the cage. Mccoy gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Chen tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mccoy manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mccoy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Chen manages to avoid it.

Mccoy gets a double leg takedown into Chen's guard.
Chen looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mccoy is one step ahead there.

Chen wants to stand and escape but Mccoy is having none of it.

Chen controls Mccoy momentarily but Mccoy frees himself.
Chen is wriggling around but Mccoy manages to pass to half guard.

Mccoy is working for a submission of some sort.
Mccoy prevents Chen from standing back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Mccoy wants to work for an arm triangle but Chen is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Mccoy is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Chen has managed to free his arm - good work.

Mccoy decides to return to a standing position.
Mccoy keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Chen tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Mccoy counters with a right hand to the body.
Mccoy ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Chen moves away.

Chen lands a head kick!

It looks like Stanford Mccoy has been cut.
Mccoy throws a head kick but Chen moves out of range.
Chen is looking to clinch but Mccoy is avoiding it.

Mccoy shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Chen is trying to control but Mccoy manages to pass to mount!

Chen slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Chen tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Mccoy has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Mccoy has control of Chen's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Chen regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Well Mccoy has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
