Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kazuma Onodera (ranked 3591 p4p, 421 weight class) and Axel Foley (ranked 2168 p4p, 266 weight class). Axel Foley will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kazuma Onodera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Axel Foley!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Peter Branson and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Onodera with a poor takedown
and Foley counters with a straight right hand.
Onodera uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Foley.

and Onodera takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Foley lands with a good body shot.
Foley throws a shot from downtown. Onodera moves away and avoids it.
Onodera shoots in for a takedown but Foley shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kazuma Onodera. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Onodera swings widly with a right hand
and Foley cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Foley looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Onodera gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Foley counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Foley misses with a body shot.
Onodera tries to counter with a takedown but Foley is quick to defend against it.
Foley throws a looping overhand right but Onodera ducks down to avoid it.

Onodera closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Onodera wants to control but Foley is keeping him busy.
Foley can't do much from the bottom here.
Foley tries to bench press Onodera off him but Onodera keeps the position.

Onodera is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Foley is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Onodera tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Onodera is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Foley knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Onodera advances to mount.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Onodera is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Foley can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Onodera looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Foley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Onodera. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Onodera seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Foley is holding on tight.

Onodera looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Onodera trying to control but he's not successful this time.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Foley can do anything to dispel that myth.
Onodera tries to control but Foley wriggling away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Onodera prevents Foley from getting the reversal.
Foley keeps trying to improve his position.
Onodera trying to control but Foley is having none of it.
Onodera fails to take his opponent's back.
Onodera takes Foley's back.
Onodera definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Foley won't enjoy being in this position. Onodera looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Foley is tapping - it's over boys! Onodera picks up the submission victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kazuma Onodera!
An out of breath Kazuma Onodera thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
