Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gary Red (ranked 4469 p4p, 469 weight class) and Jon Silva (ranked 5371 p4p, 544 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Chris Dean and Darius Henderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva with a poor takedown
and Red counters with a two punch combo.
Red slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Silva bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Silva takes a little break here. Red wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

It looks like Silva might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Let's hope that Silva has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Red leaves Silva with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Silva winds up and cracks Red with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Silva slows the pace down in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Silva throws a right and a left that Red avoids nicely.
Red misses with a head kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Silva. Red does a little dance to reset his feet.

Red wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Silva manages to pass to side control.

Red has left one of his arms exposed and Silva doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Red screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
