Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kurtis Burgess!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bobby Brown!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brown closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Burgess to the mat! Burgess manages to get full guard.
Burgess keeping moving, preventing Brown from controlling successfully.
Brown distracts Burgess with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Brown must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Burgess drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Burgess jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Burgess drops back looking for a leg! Brown is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Brown manages to kick Burgess off! Burgess jumps back into Brown's guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Burgess is pulling down on Brown's head. It's preventing any offense from Brown, at least for the moment.

and Burgess counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Brown has his foot on Burgess's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Burgess works his way back into a safe position though.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Brown can do anything to dispel that myth.

Burgess shoots for a double leg takedown but Brown sprawls well. He's pushed Burgess's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Burgess wants to work for an arm triangle but Brown is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kurtis Burgess will probably get the nod.

Brown isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Burgess stacks Brown on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Burgess!

Burgess thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Brown takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Burgess stands up and beckons Brown to his feet.

Brown is pressed up against the cage. Burgess has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Brown down to the mat. Brown avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Burgess is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Brown can't fight it off and eventually Burgess manages to take the fight to the floor. Brown looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Brown wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Burgess manages to pass to side control.
