Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kurtis Burgess!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bradley Breakfield!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Valeri Chadov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Breakfield feints and as Burgess raises his hands in defense, Breakfield changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Breakfield being controlled here momentarily.
Breakfield trying to control but Burgess is working from the bottom.
Burgess seems keen to control Breakfield's posture.
Breakfield lands a couple of elbows.
Breakfield postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Breakfield won't allow Burgess to get back to his feet.
Burgess wants to sweep but no luck.

Burgess bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Breakfield's guard.

Burgess postures up.

Breakfield escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Burgess gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Breakfield controls Burgess momentarily but Burgess frees himself.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Breakfield can do anything to dispel that myth.

Breakfield has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Burgess off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Breakfield closes the distance and pushes Burgess back into the cage.

Breakfield breaks the clinch.

Breakfield clinches up with Burgess and pushes him back against the cage.
Breakfield misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Burgess.
Burgess is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Breakfield pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Breakfield breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Breakfield darts in looking for a takedown but Burgess gets double underhooks and turns Breakfield into the cage.
Burgess really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That kick from Breakfield tenderised Burgess's leg. Burgess is trying to keep his angry face on.

Burgess gets tackled into the cage by Breakfield. Breakfield maintains the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Breakfield goes for a takedown attempt but Burgess pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Breakfield dives in and scores a takedown into Burgess's guard.
Burgess looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Breakfield throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Burgess works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Burgess pulls Breakfield in close to prevent any damage.
Burgess is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Burgess seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Breakfield wants to get up but he can't break Burgess's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Breakfield advances to half guard.
Burgess controlling the position well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Breakfield thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Burgess's head.
Burgess is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Breakfield's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Breakfield's back!

Burgess is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Breakfield is defending well though. Burgess let's go of the attempt for now.

Burgess is cranking Breakfield's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Breakfield! He's tightened the choke and Breakfield is tapping out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kurtis Burgess!
