The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferguson fails with an attempt to clinch.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Ferguson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Carioca doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Carioca manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Carioca thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Carioca remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Joca Carioca overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Carioca is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ferguson is just riding it out for now. Carioca eventually gives up the hold.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
