Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Willy Vargas (ranked 24923 p4p, 0 weight class) and Von Kaiser (ranked 3797 p4p, 318 weight class). Von Kaiser will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Willy Vargas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Von Kaiser!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Paul Gruel and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kaiser has taken the fight to the clinch.
Vargas lands with a short shot to the head.
Kaiser working hard to break the clinch.

Vargas breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Vargas changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kaiser looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Vargas is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kaiser is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Vargas remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Vargas working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Kaiser looks to move to half guard but instead Vargas has passed into mount! Damn!
Kaiser really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vargas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vargas is working for a guillotine from mount but Kaiser frees his head quite easily.

Vargas goes for an armbar but Kaiser turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Kaiser.
Kaiser looking to sit in guard and control but Vargas gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Vargas sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kaiser's guard.
Kaiser tries to roll over but Vargas keeps him under control.

Vargas is trying to work for a kimura but Kaiser is defending well.
Kaiser wants to control but Vargas passes into side.

Vargas working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Kaiser is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Vargas wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kaiser, who protects the arm well.

Kaiser is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Vargas is staying active.
Vargas is staying tight to Kaiser's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Kaiser wants to control but Vargas postures up.
Vargas just content to control the position.

Vargas thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kaiser is trying to escape the position but Vargas is controlling the position.

Vargas is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kaiser is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Nice sprawl there from Kaiser as Vargas shoots in.
Vargas fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Kaiser tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Vargas defends well and Kaiser ends up having to push Vargas into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kaiser scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Kaiser is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Vargas is just riding it out for now. Kaiser eventually gives up the hold.

Vargas wants to get back to his feet.
Vargas is not content to let Kaiser control the position.
Kaiser is just content to waste time from the top position. Vargas takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Kaiser is fighting to break Vargas's control of his arms but Vargas is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Kaiser throws a head kick that misses
and Vargas counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Kaiser misses the jab.
Vargas fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kaiser avoids it really well and circles away.
Vargas fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Vargas goes for a double leg but Kaiser avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kaiser continues to drive forward.

Kaiser shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Vargas napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Vargas throws Kaiser to one side and escapes!
Kaiser is breathing heavily.

Kaiser fails with an attempt to clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kaiser tries to close the distance and clinch up but Vargas swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Vargas jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Kaiser looks for a takedown but Vargas sprawls well.
Von Kaiser seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Vargas fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kaiser sprawls well initially but Vargas persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Willy Vargas dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Kaiser throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Vargas.
Vargas shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kaiser pinned against the cage. Kaiser gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A nice side step and Kaiser releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Kaiser gets a double leg takedown into Vargas's guard.

Vargas kicks Kaiser off and gets to his feet.

Horrible takedown attempt by Vargas or perhaps it was just good defense by Kaiser, which made it look bad.
Vargas throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kaiser's waist but Kaiser gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vargas off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Willy Vargas. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Vargas displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kaiser.
Kaiser takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Vargas keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Kaiser gets caught napping as Vargas dives in and scores a takedown. Kaiser manages to retain guard.
Vargas is in close to Kaiser's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Vargas stays in close to Kaiser's body and controls the position.

Vargas drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kaiser looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kaiser looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kaiser!

Kaiser wants to take a breather but Vargas manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Kaiser.

Vargas pulls Kaiser in close to his closed guard and prevents Kaiser from doing any damage or advancing position.
Vargas trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Vargas has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Vargas keeping moving, preventing Kaiser from controlling successfully.
Vargas is controlling Kaiser's posture.
Vargas might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Vargas has his feet on Kaiser's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Willy Vargas showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Vargas, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
