PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Soul Shadow (ranked 2221 p4p, 241 weight class) and Ma Moru (ranked 3962 p4p, 398 weight class). Shadow comes to the cage accompanied by Shadow and Soul - Red. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Soul Shadow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ma Moru!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moru uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Shadow.
A head kick from Shadow lands but Moru takes it in his stride.
Shadow throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Shadow's jab looks to have found its range, popping Moru under the eye.
Moru swings away with a body shot that misses
and Shadow counters with a leg kick.
Shadow misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A big left from Shadow misses.
Moru throws a wild body kick that Shadow sees coming a mile off.
Shadow looks to land a left hand but Moru moved out of range nicely.
Shadow throws a head kick that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The crowd cheers as Moru lands an impressive looking overhand right. Shadow doesn't seem phased though.
Moru tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Shadow manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A counter left hand to the body from Shadow misses its target.
Shadow looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A swing and a miss from Shadow.
Moru misses with a jab, cross combination.
Shadow connects with a nice looking jab.

Shadow circles away from the clinch attempt
and Shadow counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Shadow misses with a hook.
Moru pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Shadow moves into the clinch.
Shadow tries to work over Moru's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Moru stalling.
Moru misses with a punch to the body.
Shadow has Moru pushed against the cage.
Shadow tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Moru misses with a hook to the ribs.
Shadow jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Moru walks away with a smile on his face. Shadow gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Moru tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Shadow manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Moru has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Moru misses the shot to the body.
Moru tries to land a front kick but Shadow steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Shadow misses with a hook. Moru ducked under it nicely.
Moru wants to counter the offense by Shadow and move into the clinch position.
Moru takes one on the button.
Shadow tries a head kick but it misses.
Moru sizes up Shadow with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Moru motions for Shadow to come forward. Moru throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Moru pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Moru lands a right hook to the body.
Moru throws a sloppy head kick
and Shadow counters with a nice uppercut.
Shadow lands with a hook. Moru tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Shadow slips a jab from Moru.
Soul Shadow seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Shadow missing with a left hand there. Moru was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Moru just misses with a punch to the body.
Shadow tries to counter by clinching up but Moru breaks away and moves out of range.
Shadow ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Moru moves away.
Moru is looking to land body kicks.
Good work by Moru as he checks the leg kick.
Moru throws a low kick but Shadow moves out of range easily.
Moru moves in looking to clinch but Shadow pushes him off.
Shadow on the wrong end of a nice hook.

Shadow takes the fight into the clinch.
Moru prevents a body shot from Shadow.
Shadow tries a body shot but Moru blocks it.
Shadow stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Shadow blocks an elbow strike.

Shadow tries to work over Moru's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Moru is looking to control Shadow's arms but Shadow gets an underhook and turns him. Now Moru has his back to the cage.
Shadow fails to pull guard.

Shadow doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Shadow prevents a body shot from Moru.
Moru misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Moru lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Shadow or not.
Shadow is struggling to control the position.

Shadow gets control of Moru's arms and successfully pulls guard. Shadow will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Shadow is looking to cinch up a triangle. Moru throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Shadow's body to avoid the submission. Shadow has instead reached around Moru's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Shadow arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Soul Shadow!
Our winner, Soul Shadow, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
