Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Max Luther!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Percy Williams!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Steve Erwin and Ben Watson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch lands to the side of Williams 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Luther clinches.
Luther misses with a punch to the body.
Luther avoiding damage as Williams throws knees to the body.
Luther misses with a short punch on the inside.
Williams fails to pull guard.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Williams has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Williams fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Luther misses with a hook to the ribs.
Luther working aggressively here.
Williams tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Luther smiles and moves away.
Max Luther has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Percy Williams.
Williams rushes Luther and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Williams is working for takedown but Luther is calmly controlling the position for now.
Williams tries to pull guard but Luther forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
A shot in the inside from Luther.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Luther gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Williams.
Luther scores with a shot to the side of Williams's head.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Luther creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Luther lands a left hand.
Williams is rocked!
Luther swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Williams is still on wobbly legs! Can Luther finish him?
Luther unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Williams! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Luther is unloading with more strikes now! Williams drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Max Luther!
In defeat, Percy Williams stepped up to the mic, saying 'I took this fight on very short notice. I'm not making excuses, I'm just saying that if I had a full camp, My hand would be raised.'.
