Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ludvig Ericsson (ranked 240 p4p, 35 weight class) and John Altare (ranked 415 p4p, 63 weight class). Ludvig Ericsson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ludvig Ericsson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Altare!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Daniel Bishop and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Altare moves in looking to clinch but Ericsson pushes him off.

Ericsson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Altare did well to prevent Ericsson getting side control.

and Ericsson counters with a nice leg kick.

Ericsson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Altare on his heels. He'll look to pass Altare's guard now, I'm sure.

Ludvig Ericsson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ericsson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Altare creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Altare throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Ericssons head.

Ericsson has Altare pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Ericsson pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Altare tumbling to the mat - Ericsson dives into Altare's guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

John Altare showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Altare tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ericsson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Ericsson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Altare sprawls well. Altare wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ericsson gets slowly back to his feet.

Altare has his hands clasped together around Ericsson's back. He's all about the action.
Ericsson is pressing down on Altare's thigh, looking to free his foot. Altare is holding on for now.
Altare felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ludvig Ericsson.
I think Ericsson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
