PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rocco Marciano (ranked 222 p4p, 19 weight class) and Jim Duggan (ranked 983 p4p, 105 weight class). Marciano's entrance music is Marciano is a stone cold pimp out there. A fine choice. Duggan is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Five Finger Death Punch- Bad Company . Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 3, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rocco Marciano!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Duggan!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Josh West and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marciano throws a right hand that Duggan ducks under and follows up with a left that Duggan also avoids with ease.
It seemed like Duggan was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Duggan moves out of range as Marciano strikes.
Marciano missing with a left hand there. Duggan was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

It looks like Jim Duggan has been cut.
Marciano definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Marciano throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Duggan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Marciano paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Duggan counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Duggan has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Marciano throws a body shot but no joy.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Duggan! But no joy.
Duggan takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Marciano throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Duggan on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Marciano pivots, looking for a leg kick but Duggan is out of range and Marciano settles back down.

Duggan ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Marciano is looking to chop away at Duggan's legs.
Marciano scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Marciano misses with a hook. Duggan ducked under it nicely.

letting Duggan counter with a right hand.

Marciano darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Good leg kick by Marciano there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Marciano tries to land a leg kick but Duggan saw it coming and moves away.
Duggan connects with a body shot that sends Marciano's belly button to the back.
Duggan doesn't manage to clinch there - Marciano circles away.
Marciano's jab looks to have found its range, popping Duggan under the eye.
Marciano is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Duggan changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Marciano connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Marciano scores with a hook to the body. Duggan takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Marciano needs to keep his hands up - Duggan had a free shot at his head there.

Duggan's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Duggan feints and then cracks Marciano's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Marciano down.

and Duggan decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Marciano's guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Marciano lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Duggan has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Duggan and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Duggan takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Marciano fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Duggan looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Duggan looks for the body kick but Marciano saw that one coming.
Marciano looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Duggan blocks a jab.
Duggan has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Duggan there as he acknowledges the shot.
Marciano buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Duggan has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Marciano.
Marciano lands a right hook to the body.

Marciano cracks Duggan with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Marciano has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Duggan to stand back up!


Duggan is rocked!
Duggan takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Duggan is still on wobbly legs! Can Marciano finish him?
Marciano cracks Duggan on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Duggan falls backwards against the cage. Marciano follows up with more strikes that drop Duggan to his knees. Marciano keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Duggan! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rocco Marciano!

A very excited looking Rocco Marciano made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
