Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mervin Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Michael Alexsej!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Anni Minnemäki and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott circles away from the clinch attempt.
Scott is looking to counter the offense by Alexsej and move into the clinch.
Alexsej fails in his attempt to clinch.
Scott throws a series of punches but Alexsej moves out of range.
Alexsej tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Alexsej throws a sloppy head kick and Scott moves out of range easily.
Alexsej uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Scott.
It seemed like Alexsej was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Alexsej shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Scott manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Scott is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Alexsej gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Scott regains guard.
Scott is adopting a defensive guard.
Scott's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Scott could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

and Alexsej counters with a right hand to the body.

Scott loads up on a big right hand but Alexsej slips the punch.
Scott will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Scott enables Alexsej to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Scott manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Scott has his feet on Alexsej's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Scott stalks Alexsej and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Alexsej's face. Alexsej staggers backwards, shaken.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Michael Alexsej will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Scott tries to stall but Alexsej uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Scott tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Alexsej has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Scott clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Alexsej has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Scott is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Even with his hooks in, Alexsej manages to miss with strikes from the back.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Michael Alexsej showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Maybe Scott would be better served going for some more strikes rather than trying to control so much.
