Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Raqaun Shaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Samuel Gervais!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gervais dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Shaw throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gervais was covering up waiting for the punch and Shaw finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Shaw really is a fat lump.
Shaw passes Gervais's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Shaw missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gervais trying to hold on to Shaw's head to control him but Shaw postures up.
Shaw perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Shaw seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gervais for as long as he can get away with.
Gervais wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shaw is looking to advance position but Gervais won't allow it.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Shaw doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Gervais counters with a stiff right hand.
Shaw shoots in and drives through. Gervais sprawls well.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shaw has Gervais up against the cage in a clinch.
Shaw breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Shaw shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Gervais counters with a lovely straight right hand!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Raqaun Shaw. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Gervais counters with a nice right hand that sends Shaw toppling to the canvas! Shaw scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Gervais finish him?!
Shaw is rocked!
It looks like Raqaun Shaw has been cut.
Shaw is breathing heavily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gervais fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Shaw square on the jaw! Damn, Shaw is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Samuel Gervais!
