Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Demri Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jorge Remirez!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Remirez let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Remirez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Remirez lands in his opponent's guard.

Smith is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Remirez asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Remirez has control of Smith's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Smith regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Smith tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Remirez has hold of Smith's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Smith manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Smith fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

A countering left hand to the body from Remirez misses.

and Remirez counters with a three punch combo that has Smith backing up. Smith nods at Remirez to acknowledge the strikes.

and Remirez counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Smith smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Remirez slips a jab and a cross from Smith.
Remirez looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Smith misses with the combination.
Remirez throws out a counter right but Smith avoids it with no problem.

Smith connects with a combination that backs up Remirez into the cage. Smith lands a flurry of punches that gets past Remirez's guard. Remirez is down and the referee has seen enough. It is all over! Smith bursts into tears - this win obviously means a huge amount to him.
