PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rick Lo (ranked 6287 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Gun (ranked 6511 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rick Lo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tommy Gun!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lo throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gun sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Tommy Gun seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A nice combination there by Gun.
Lo throws a hook but Gun avoids it easily.
A combination from Gun does no damage.
A punch combination from Gun misses.

Gun tries to sprawl but Lo drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Gun is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Lo seems to be working for a kimura but Gun defends the submission attempt.
Lo passes to full mount!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Gun holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Lo tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Gun blocking the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lo content just to control the position here.
Gun is desperately trying to improve his position but Lo has a good base and remains in mount.

Lo is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Gun to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Gun shrugs it off.
Lo looking to finish with strikes here!
Lo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gun manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Gun is trying to control but can't.
Lo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Lo stalling.
Gun tries to get to full guard but Lo has control of the leg.

Gun manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Lo keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Lo misses with a hook to the ribs.
Lo is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Gun pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Lo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A telegraphed right hand from Lo misses the target.
Gun throws a counter combo.
Gun misses with a low kick.
Lo looks to land a left hand but Gun moved out of range nicely.
Gun is looking for the big counter here.
Gun throws a hook to the side of Lo's head but Lo sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Gun avoids the body shot from Lo.
Lo throws a body punch but Gun moves out of range.
Gun is looking to clinch.
Lo swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Gun throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Gun gets caught napping as Lo dives in and scores a takedown. Gun manages to retain guard.
Lo passes Gun's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Gun really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lo missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Lo seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lo seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gun for as long as he can get away with.

Lo is looking for a kimura here.
Lo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Gun's head.
Lo takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Gun wants to control but Lo is keeping busy.
Gun wants to sweep but Lo has passed to side control!
Gun looks winded!
Lo advances to full mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rick Lo dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Danga de danga de dang - Gun scores with a four punch combination!
Lo misses the shot to the body.
A right-left combo lands from Gun.

Lo scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Gun dodges the ground and pound from Lo.
Gun is looking for a sweep.
Lo staying calm.
Lo moves into full mount!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lo goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Gun is on top in guard.
Gun wants to control from the top but Lo keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Lo has his feet on Gun's thighs here. He's pushed Gun off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Gun screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Rick Lo!
