The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Samson gets tackled into the cage by Konopka. Konopka maintains the clinch.

Samson has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Konopka is trying to keep an underhook but Samson manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Konopka kicks Samson off and gets back to his feet.
Konopka connects with a good right hand that stumbles Samson. Samson circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Samson throws a right and a left that Konopka avoids nicely.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Samson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Konopka makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Konopka looks to throw the jab but Samson is out of range.
Samson tries to counter with a takedown but Konopka is quick to defend against it.

Samson clinches up with Konopka and pushes him back against the cage.

Konopka pulls guard effortlessly.
Samson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Konopka swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Samson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Konopka drops back looking for a leg! Samson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Samson manages to kick Konopka off! Konopka jumps back into Samson's guard.

Konopka is trying to break the clinch but Samson is controlling him.

Samson jumps guard and drags Konopka to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Konopka missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Konopka stands and steps away. Samson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Samson drives through with a takedown into Konopka's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Konopka manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Konopka has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Samson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Konopka pushes Samson off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Konopka has closed the distance and engaged Samson in a clinch.
Konopka wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Samson has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Konopka is trying to keep an underhook but Samson manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Konopka manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Samson keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

A slow jab from Konopka misses its intended target.
Konopka sizes up Samson with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

BOOM! Konopka lands a beautiful left hook that drops Samson. Samson tries to recover but Konopka is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Samson lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Pete Konopka decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
