Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andre Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scott Highlander!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Highlander throws a body punch but Gracie moves out of range.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Highlander is controlling an arm, preventing Gracie from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Gracie drops back, looking for a kneebar! Highlander looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Highlander looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Highlander!

Gracie tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Highlander wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Highlander is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Gracie gets his way!
Gracie is not going to allow Highlander to sit and survive in this position.
Highlander is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Gracie is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Highlander knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Highlander for a finish.

and Gracie decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Highlander's guard.

Gracie drops back looking for a leg! Highlander is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Highlander manages to kick Gracie off! Gracie jumps back into Highlander's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
