The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goodman shoots in looking for a takedown. Ryan tries to sprawl out of it but Goodman keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ryan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Ryan drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Goodman defends it well.

Goodman gets caught napping as Ryan dives in and scores a takedown. Goodman manages to retain guard.

Goodman manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Goodman goes for a takedown attempt but Ryan pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Ryan gets a takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Goodman wants to improve his position but Ryan is controlling well.

Goodman tries to roll over but Ryan keeps him under control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ryan wants to advance to full mount but Goodman doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ryan slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Goodman.

Ryan takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Ryan is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Goodman is hurt! He's hurt bad - Ryan fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Goodman from any more punishment! Congratulations to Ryan! Great finish!
