Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jimmie Connor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carlos Lapris!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Elvis Blanc and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lapris misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Lapris throws a lazy uppercut
and Connor connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Carlos Lapris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lapris misses the jab.
Connor tries to clinch up.
Lapris misses with a wild body shot.
Connor half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Lapris looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Lapris swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Connor shoots in for a takedown but Lapris shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Lapris shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Connor's guard.
Lapris pushes down on Connor's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Lapris passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Connor!
Lapris wants to control the pace but Connor is squirming around nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lapris lands a nice shot to the head.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Connor is working to get back to half guard.
Lapris tries to control but Connor wriggling away.
Lapris avoids the attempt from Connor to control.

Lapris is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Connor is surviving well by controlling Lapris's body position as best he can.

Lapris prevents Connor from getting the reversal.
Connor is bucking up trying to escape but Lapris cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Connor on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Connor tries to get out of the position.

Connor wants to hold on but Lapris pushes him away.
Connor working to try and regain half guard.
Lapris throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Lapris looking to control and managing it successfully.
Lapris tries to control but Connor wriggling away.
BOOM! Lapris connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Connor wants to control but Lapris is having none of it.
Connor tries to reverse the position but Lapris maintains control.

Lapris won't let Connor get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Lapris lands a nice shot to the head.
Lapris is landing with some decent strikes but Connor is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Connor is looking to improve his position but Lapris isn't that keen on the idea.

Connor tries to lock up and control but Lapris gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Lapris.
Horrible takedown attempt by Connor or perhaps it was just good defense by Lapris, which made it look bad.
Connor tests Lapris's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Lapris shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Connor defends it nicely.
Connor steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Lapris.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A nice side step and Lapris releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Lapris loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Lapris has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Lapris wants to control from the top but Connor keeps moving.

Connor is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lapris is controlling him.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Connor tries to improve position but can't.
Lapris fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Lapris wants to lay and pray for a moment but Connor keeps working.
Connor can't do much from the bottom here.
Lapris lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Lapris trying to control the position but Connor is working away.
Lapris might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Connor haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Lapris is looking to take a break and control but Connor is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Lapris is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
Lapris just misses with a punch to the body.
Connor is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Lapris.

Lapris tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Lapris gets tackled into the cage by Connor. Connor maintains the clinch.

Lapris pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Lapris throws a body punch but Connor moves out of range.
Connor went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Lapris feints and as Connor raises his hands in defense, Lapris changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lapris stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Connor swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carlos Lapris showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Lapris is trying to work for a kimura but Connor is defending well.

Lapris looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Lapris wants to take a breather but Connor is having none of it.

Connor wants to control but Lapris is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Lapris tries to pass to full mount but Connor defends it.
Lapris wants to lay and pray for a moment but Connor keeps working.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Connor is trying to stand.

Lapris shoots in but Connor avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Connor is looking to counter the offense by Lapris and move into the clinch.
Lapris misses with a hook to the body
and Connor counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Lapris shoots in for a takedown but Connor shows good takedown defense.

Lapris takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Lapris tries for a takedown but Connor sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Connor pushes Lapris off and gets back to his feet.
Lapris tries to score a power double leg takedown but Connor sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lapris somewhat.

Lapris looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Connor is fending him off so far but Lapris persists. Nope, Connor circles away and we're back to standing.
Connor fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Connor rushes Lapris and presses him up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Connor throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Lapris blocks it with crossed arms.
Connor tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lapris smiles and moves away.

Connor tries to counter with a takedown but Lapris is quick to defend against it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Connor.
Lapris changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Connor tries to avoid it but Lapris manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Connor to the ground. Connor escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Connor moves into the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lapris goes for a takedown in the clinch but Connor prevents it.

Connor escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jimmie Connor showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Lapris has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Carlos Lapris rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
