Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alfred Carver (ranked 8569 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Wright (ranked 8434 p4p, 0 weight class). Wright has chosen Warped Mind as his entrance music. Alex Wright will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alfred Carver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alex Wright!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carver scores with a takedown into Wright's guard.
Wright is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Carver would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Carver not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Carver stands up from Wright's guard - Carver perhaps looking for a knockout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carver closes this distance looking for a takedown but Wright circles away.
No luck for Wright with that takedown attempt.

Wright has closed the distance and engaged Carver in a clinch.
Carver could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Wright tries to circle away but Carver has him pinned against the cage.

Carver pulls guard effortlessly.
Wright throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Carver works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Wright wants to control from the top but Carver keeps moving.
Wright stopping the sweep attempt from Carver.
Carver not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Carver is controlling Wright's posture.
Carver trying to keep a closed guard but Wright is proving a slippery customer.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Carver holds on and takes a little breather.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Wright got a little sloppy there for a moment and Carver has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wright has managed to get both his arms back between Carver's legs - danger averted.
Wright prevents Carver from getting back to his feet.

Wright stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Wright gets a clinch.
Wright is trying to pull guard but Carver has him pressed against the cage.
Carver jumps guard but Wright turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Carver tries to land knees in the clinch but Wright avoids the damage to the body.

Carver is trying to pull guard but Wright turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alfred Carver. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Wright escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Carver throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Wright counters with a one-two to the body.
Wright darts in looking for a takedown but Carver gets double underhooks and turns Wright into the cage.
Nice sprawl there from Carver as Wright shoots in.
Wright rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Carver counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Well, if Carver is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Wright looks winded!

Wright trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Carver tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Alfred Carver will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Carver defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Wright.
It looked like Carver was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Wright looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Carver is fending him off so far but Wright persists. Nope, Carver circles away and we're back to standing.

Wright has managed to clinch.
Carver goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Carver tries to pull guard but Wright forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Wright breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Carver gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Carver takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wright looks to land a combination but Carver avoids it well.

Wright gets caught flat footed, as Carver shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carver stays in close to Wright's body and controls the position.

Carver stands up from Wright's guard - Carver perhaps looking for a knockout.

Wright clinches up against the cage.
Carver fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alfred Carver. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Wright is trying to pull guard but Carver has him pressed against the cage.
Carver gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Wright.
Carver tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Wright pushes off an throws an elbow but Carver leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Wright taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Wright ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Wright no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Carver forces his way into half guard.
Wright is breathing heavily.
Wright has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Carver is working away from the top position though.
Wright is trying to stand up here but Carver is controlling him well.
Carver tries to stand but can't do so whilst Wright controls his leg.
Carver not doing much here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carver wants to stand up but Wright has a hold of him and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Carver is controlling the pace.
Wright is trying to stand.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Carver takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Wright rushes Carver and presses him up against the cage.

Carver breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alex Wright showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Carver gets the takedown into side control.

Wright throws Carver to one side and escapes!

and Carver counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Wright will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
An attempted straight right counter from Carver misses the target.
Wright fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Carver manages to avoid it.
Wright swings for the body but Carver moves out of range.

Carver is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Wright's half guard.
Wright takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Carver controlling the action here.

Wright is looking to improve his position.
Wright is trying to stand back up but Carver is controlling him
Carver performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Wright has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Carver is on him like a limpet, forcing Wright back against the cage.

Carver fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Wright tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Carver just stands there and leans against the cage.
Alfred Carver has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Wright.
Wright is trying to force a seperation but Carver has the dominant position.
Carver is trying to pull guard but Wright has him pressed against the cage.
Wright is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Carver to keep the fight standing.

Wright breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Wright throws a head kick but Carver moves out of range.
Carver shoots in but no luck this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wright throws a leg kick which misses Carver's front leg but catches the back leg as Carver tries to avoid it.
Carver scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Carver shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Wright as he avoids it easily.

Wright clinches.
Carver is trying to pull guard but Wright has him pressed against the cage.
Carver is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Wright is defending well for now.
Carver tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Wright smiles and moves away.

Carver shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Wright manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Alfred Carver overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wright is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Carver engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Carver got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wright has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Carver has managed to get both his arms back between Wright's legs - danger averted.

And that's the end of the fight!
Alex Wright comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Wright has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Alex Wright rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
