PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Scuba Chris (ranked 2497 p4p, 264 weight class) and Guillermo Pecilli (ranked 5837 p4p, 496 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Scuba Chris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 1, fighting out of New York, Guillermo Pecilli!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chris throws out a loose jab but Pecilli uses good head movement to avoid it.
A left and a right from Chris both land. Nice combination.
Pecilli throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Pecilli takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Pecilli is looking to clinch.
Chris swats away the attempt to clinch by Pecilli.
Chris swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looked like Chris was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Pecilli throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Chris went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Chris scores with a nice right hand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Chris counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Pecilli tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Chris manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Chris throws an overhand right that lands on Pecilli's shoulder, as Pecilli tries to avoid the shot.
Pecilli wants to counter the offense by Chris and move into the clinch position.
Pecilli moves in looking to clinch but Chris pushes him off.
Chris scores with a one two! Pecilli had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Chris drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Pecilli gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Chris, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
