Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Grey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Murphy McGee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying McGee's choice of entrance music: Angel of Death. John Grey has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Grey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Murphy McGee!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Eddie Farnsworth and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGee uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Grey.
Murphy McGee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Grey fails to land with a series of punches.
McGee scores with a leg kick.
Grey throws a head kick but McGee moves out of range.

McGee darts in and clinches Grey up against the cage.
McGee prevents the takedown attempt.
McGee crunches a lovely knee into Grey's ribcage.
Grey is breathing heavily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Grey fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
McGee unloads a knee to the mid-section. Grey lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

It looks like John Grey has been cut.

McGee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Grey. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

McGee tries a knee to the head but Grey blocks it.
Grey wants to get back to striking at distance but McGee won't allow it.
Grey tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. McGee just stands there and leans against the cage.
McGee lands a nice knee to the body.
Grey is trying to work for a single leg takedown but McGee pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Grey. That's going to take a lot out of him.

McGee is working to avoid the ground and pound but Grey connects with a decent elbow.
McGee is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Grey tries to advance to mount but McGee denies him.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Grey scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at McGee to see if he's OK.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McGee regains half guard there - taking advantage of Grey's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Grey decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in McGee's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Grey accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Grey postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! McGee is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Grey, into his guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Grey working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McGee doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McGee manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Grey thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Grey has his foot on McGee's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McGee works his way back into a safe position though.

Grey has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's time! Grey's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


McGee throws a nice head kick!
Grey looks to land a body kick but McGee moved away.
McGee takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
McGee does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
John Grey is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
McGee blocks a head kick by Grey.
Grey shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McGee but McGee pushes him off and we're back to square one.

McGee lands a high kick to the side of Grey's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! McGee dives into guard, looking to finish.

McGee must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
McGee stays in close to Grey's body and controls the position.
McGee would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

McGee throws a head kick that Grey semi-blocks.
Grey avoids the head kick by McGee.

Grey closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

McGee wants to improve his position but Grey is controlling well.

Grey lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

McGee has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Grey is working away from the top position though.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Grey lands a nice short elbow.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Grey looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks McGee with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Grey looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Grey thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Grey wants to work for an arm triangle but McGee is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Grey is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so McGee is just riding it out for now. Grey eventually gives up the hold.

I think McGee has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
