PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ruben Carr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Warrior Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ruben Carr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Warrior Gonzalez!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Donald Grub and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gonzalez gets the takedown into side control.

Carr explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Gonzalez lands with a shot to the body.
Gonzalez avoids the body shot from Carr.
Warrior Gonzalez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sloppy strikes from Carr. Those never looked like landing.
Gonzalez closes the distance but Carr moves to the side

and Carr counters with a single leg into guard. Gonzalez didn't expect that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Carr drops back looking for a leg! Gonzalez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gonzalez manages to kick Carr off! Carr jumps back into Gonzalez's guard.

Carr is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Carr postures up and lands a big shot to Gonzalez's brow.

Gonzalez looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Carr landing some decent shots from guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gonzalez is on top in guard.

Carr bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gonzalez's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gonzalez is looking to sweep but instead, Carr has passed into half guard.
Carr slows the pace down in half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Carr is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gonzalez is just riding it out for now. Carr eventually gives up the hold.
Gonzalez is trying to stand.

Carr is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Carr is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gonzalez sees it coming and defends easily.

Gonzalez has a hand on Carr's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Carr takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Carr looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Gonzalez is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Carr looking for a guillotine from mount but Gonzalez is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ruben Carr dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Carr avoids a punch combination nicely.
Carr drops down looking for a counter takedown but Gonzalez sprawls and moves away.

Gonzalez feints and as Carr raises his hands in defense, Gonzalez changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gonzalez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Gonzalez would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Carr manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Gonzalez on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A right handed body shot lands from Carr.

Gonzalez successfully pulls guard.
Gonzalez has momentary wrist control but Carr slips an elbow through the middle.
Ruben Carr overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Gonzalez has an active guard here but Carr has managed to pass into half guard.

Carr is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Gonzalez is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
