PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jordan Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Lundstram (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wright bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Lundstram is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Wright misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Wright misses with the combination.
Lundstram throws a counter combo.
A lazy left from Wright finds it's target.
Lundstram with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Wright to score with a decent uppercut.

It looks like Steve Lundstram has been cut.
Lundstram throws a leg kick but Wright checks it.
An attempted straight right counter from Wright misses the target.
Wright lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Wright.
Wright throws a left and a right that both miss

and Lundstram counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Lundstram has hold of one of Wright's legs. Wright is fighting the takedown attempt but Lundstram gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Wright is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wright is looking to stand up but Lundstram isn't so interested in that idea.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Lundstram controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Lundstram drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Wright explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Wright lands a jab to the head.

Wright misses with a low kick.
Lundstram takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wright darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Lundstram is rocked!

Lundstram closes the distance and clinches.

Lundstram gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Wright is trying to stand.
Lundstram controlling the action here.
Lundstram prevents Wright from standing back up.
Lundstram is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Wright!
Wright is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Wright somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!

Wright throws a series of punches but Lundstram avoids them all with ease.
Wright jabs Lundstram to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Nice shot lands for Wright.
Wright avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Lundstram fails with the takedown
and Lundstram takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

That has opened up Steve Lundstram's cut even more.
Lundstram looks winded!

Lundstram is still on wobbly legs! Can Wright finish him?
A head kick misses from Wright.
Wright scores with a jab. Lundstram acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
No joy there for Wright, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Lundstram feints the counter takedown.
BOOM! Wright lands a beautiful left hook that drops Lundstram. Lundstram tries to recover but Wright is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Lundstram lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
