Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mike Rutherford!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tony Tiger!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Bart Greer and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tiger clinches up against the cage.
Tiger lands an elbow that stopped Rutherford in his tracks for a moment.
Rutherford wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Tiger lands a nice knee to the body.
Rutherford tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Tiger just stands there and leans against the cage.
Rutherford fails to pull the fight into his guard.
With the fighters up against the cage, Tiger throws an elbow but misses.
Tiger creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Rutherford's defenses.
Tiger's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Rutherford jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Tiger walks away with a smile on his face. Rutherford gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Rutherford. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rutherford avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Tiger takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Tiger steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Rutherford.

Tiger moves into the clinch.
Tiger lands an elbow inside.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tiger creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Rutherford has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Tiger uses from the top position.
Rutherford is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Rutherford looking for a triangle here. Tiger is fighting it but it looks tight! Rutherford pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Tiger is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Mike Rutherford!
