PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between King Dick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Haigh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dick kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Thunderstruck. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haigh looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dick is fending him off so far but Haigh persists. Nope, Dick circles away and we're back to standing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Haigh is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
Haigh pushes Dick away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Dick gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Dick feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Haigh has his foot on Dick's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dick works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Haigh really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dick. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Dick working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Haigh doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Haigh manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Haigh has taken the fight to the clinch.
Haigh is looking to break free of the clinch but Dick has double underhooks.
Dick lands a nice knee to the body.

The is referee keeping an eye on Dick - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Dick is trying to drag Haigh to the mat but Haigh just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Haigh wants to stand but Dick has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Dick is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
