Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Anderson Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, James Daniels!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Peter Branson and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Daniels rushes Silva and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Daniels goes for a takedown in the clinch but Silva prevents it.

Daniels manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Silva loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Silva missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Silva slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Silva tries to free his leg and advance position but Daniels is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silva is working hard here to advance position.
Daniels is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Silva is controlling him.
Daniels tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Silva controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Daniels shoots in for a takedown but Silva shows good takedown defense.
Daniels tries to clinch up.

Daniels pushes Silva up against the cage in a clinch.

Daniels successfully pulls guard.
Silva trying to control but Daniels is working from the bottom.

Silva gets to his feet - Daniels follows without any prompting.
Daniels is looking to clinch.
A jab from Daniels misses.
Daniels has a takedown stuffed.
Anderson Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Daniels.

Daniels forces Silva back against the cage and clinches.
Silva misses with an elbow over the top.
Silva tries to land a knee to the head but Daniels blocks with his arms.

Daniels gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Daniels throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Daniels stops Silva from getting back to his feet.
Silva is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Daniels scores with a couple of nice shots.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Silva is trying to control but can't.
Silva moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Silva is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Silva kicks Daniels off and gets to his feet.

Daniels forces Silva back against the cage and clinches.
Daniels drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Daniels ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Daniels no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Silva trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Daniels can do anything to dispel that myth.
Daniels looking to hit a scissor sweep but Silva is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Daniels is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Silva forces his way into half guard.
Silva not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Silva blocks the strikes from Daniels.
Daniels won't allow Silva to pass to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but James Daniels will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Silva throws a right and a left that both miss.
Silva takes a swing at Daniels's ribcage but misses.

Daniels darts in and clinches Silva up against the cage.

Daniels works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Silva is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Daniels softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Silva is looking for a takedown.
Silva is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Daniels pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Daniels wants the takedown. Silva is fighting it off but Daniels persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Silva's guard against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Daniels in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Silva looking to hit a scissor sweep but Daniels is one step ahead there.
Daniels controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Daniels lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Daniels postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Daniels cracks Silva with a solid left hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Daniels content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
We've been informed that Daniels has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Silva wants to stand and escape but Daniels is having none of it.
Daniels postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.


Silva is rocked!
Daniels gets to his feet and stands over Silva, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Silva felt that one! Daniels unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Silva from any more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Daniels!
