The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Doe, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Smith closes this distance looking for a takedown but Doe circles away.

Doe bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Doe can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Smith is looking to escape.
Smith is desperately trying to improve his position but Doe has a good base and remains in mount.
Smith tries to hold on but Doe postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
